THE WHY AND THE HOW OF MY PRESENTATIONS
THE WHY
During the last three years, the effects of the pandemic have extended to what we now know as Collective Trauma, a first such trauma ever. During this time, many of my previous beliefs and ways in which I conduct coaching and psychotherapy were validated. As always, my personal challenges propelled me to reevaluate the ways I live my life and to try to make the best changes I can possibly make – which were not always the best, not even good enough, sometimes downright repeating old patterns, to say the least. But the most impactful were the two categories of professional challenges I encountered during this time:
- Clients who rely heavily on others, through what I define as “other-care” or “care-done-by another” (and not the “self-care” term regularly used), meaning that they tend to rely not on themselves, but on others in order to fulfill their needs. They are lost without the gym, the coffee shop trips, the nail salons and other services, even including psychotherapy – when people see therapy as another trendy thing to put on the “self-care” list.
- Clients who rely solely on themselves, who have no concept of and no belief in something greater than themselves, which people call Higher Power, Source, Creator, and I call God. Such people, used to relying solely on themselves, seemed to be inconsolable, lost in existential terrors well beyond simple psychology.
We rely on relationships. We heal in relationships. We need each other! But how we use these relationships, with ourselves, others and God is essential for our health. We need to know that when we rely solely on others or solely on ourselves, we miss these two essential components of life (which are exactly the targets of my presentations):
- The Freedom, and therefore the inner power, of free choice we are all equipped with when we act on this freedom, and
- The Love (“God is Love”), and therefore the healing power, of a love greater than our understanding, but easier to experience when we step out into the “beyond-me” space.
THE HOW
These presentations were not planned by me. I was invited to speak in different settings and to address some aspects of the heightened fear and uncertainty we all go through.
My goals are to inspire you, to offer you a little comfort and hope, to fill in a missing piece many spiritual people complain of lacking when they seek coaching and therapy – especially Christians tired of heady preaching, thirsty for the deep meaning their heart intuits. My personal and professional experience is that when this piece is integrated, you will start feeling grounded, less afraid, and less demanding of yourself and others. I wish for you to see that healing is more than well-being, and life is more than comfort. I wish for you to see the unity of all Life, not body separated from mind, not science separated from God.
These presentations express my lifelong interest in healing through an integration of science, neuroscience, and psychology linked to and supported by the teachings and contemplative practices of the early Christian Church. Science is starting to catch up with the saints – those people who share our biology, but not our mindset, whose mind is set on the Holy Spirit, directly receiving revelations about life, love, and survival through Grace.
These presentations are dense, so please pace yourself. You can use them as simple information, or as your personal workshop (when you stop and answer the Self-Inquiry questions). You can always ask me questions and give me feedback through my email: corina@passionforhealing.com
New classes and workshops on mind, body, and spirit integration coming soon.
Portable Skills For Healing And Wellness – A Three-Part Online Workshop
We all want to heal, love, and be happy, but most of us do not know where to start, or we forget that we know or we skip steps, hoping that we will succeed faster.
Neuroscience and common sense, if we listen to them, tell us that baby steps are big steps that add up little by little, with just the right amount of effort, and they support us in the long run that is our life. It makes sense, doesn’t it? When children learn to walk, they fall and get up, fall again, and get up again, because their brains are wide awake and ready for challenges, present and attentive. They keep falling but don’t give up. Most of us, adults, lose these qualities until we become chronically discontented, discouraged, and even bitter. As little kids do, we, too, need to learn to steady our wobbly emotional legs and to remind our bodies and minds of their inherent power:
– to feel safe in the body when everything crumbles around us.
– to acknowledge pitfalls without succumbing to them.
– to not abandon our own selves when we need ourselves the most.
Based on neuroscience, this 3-part workshop is an integration of a variety of mind-body methods: basic somatic skills for stress and trauma, HeartMath, Integrative Body Psychotherapy, the Feldenkrais Method, Sounder Sleep Systems, Intelligent Movement Solutions, and more.
So, come and learn simple, calming and energizing ways of feeling safe, well and ready to face any task and situation. Discover, uncover, and practice the rich resources of your mind and soul, heart and body. Learn the essentials of energy management through attention, orienting, grounding, breathing, heart-centering and minimal movement meant to balance the nervous system and restore the whole being.
Each workshop builds on the previous one. Recordings will be available for those of you who cannot participate live.
You will be able to add some of these skills to your:
– morning routine: preparation for prayer, meditation and work
– evening routine: reducing the stress accumulated during the day and preparing for sleep
– breaks during the day: preventing stress and dealing with difficult situations
This is my desire for you: to manage your energy, recover the zest for life and thrive, from the inside out.
